About

Hello, my name is Régis Baccaro and I am the author of this blog.

I’m a french man whos has been living in Denmark for the past 18 years.

I was born and raised in the supposedly world gastronomy capital – Lyon – and immigrated to Canada at age 21.
At 23 I moved to Denmark where I now reside in an old farm in the country side of the island of Funen said to be the “garden of Denmark”. I spend a lot of time cooking for my friends and family.
When I first came to Denmark I was astonished by the lack of – for a french guy like me – common grocery items like garlic, vinegar, olive oil. But things have changed during the last 18 years and even in our modest countryside supermarket we can buy exotic food nowadays.

I have an education in computer science and I currently work at a TV Channel.

For many years now I’ve been trying to figure how to involve food and gastronomy in my professional activities. Amongst other things I have imported wine, considered starting a wine bar, brewed beer, made cheese, protested against the sometimes lousy food culture I’ve encountered…

I’m constantly trying to broaden my own as well as my family’s, friends’ and neighbours’ gastronomic horizon.

I believe that starting a blog will force me to write about my daily thriving for the promotion of genuine, tasteful, easy and convivial cooking/gastronomy.

    Yo Régis,
Great blog – and I remember when I tasted your cooking skills about 6 years ago. I think it was some kind of African Casserole and in the morning homemade Dougnuts with homemade cheese.

With your new Blog I can try out some of recipies my self.

    Cheers / Michael Madsbøll
